Designer vs. Dupes
I, along with some of you, LOVE designer clothes. Not because they are luxury, but because I truly love the brands history, the designers behind the brand, and I appreciate their art and message. However, luxury items are not an option for at the moment (but one day they will be!), so I found some more affordable dupes. All the designer brands I mention today, I love and believe in and will include info on them and where to buy their items as well.
GUCCI
1) Gucci was founded in 1921 in Florence, Italy by Guccio Gucci and was started as a luggage and small leather goods company. Fun Fact: Gucci's trademark floral printed scarf exists because Grace Kelly had it personally requested to be made for her. It became so hugely popular that variations of the print are still manufactured today.

2) Balenciaga was founded in San Sebastian, Spain in 1919 by Cristobal Balenciaga. Fun Fact: Balenciaga was extremely shy and had only one full interview his entire lifetime. Prudence Glyn interviewed him in 1971.

ALEXANDER MCQUEEN
3) Alexander McQueen is my all time favorite designer. He founded his brand in 1992 in London, United Kingdom. I could write an entire post about him, and probably will one day, but for the sake of being impartial, we'll keep it simple. Fun Fact: McQueen was known for his bold and dramatic style, which he used to create stage costumes for David Bowie and Lady Gaga.

4) Yves Saint Laurent was founded by Yves Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Berge in 1961 in Paris, France. Fun Fact: Yves clothes were known for blurring the lines between masculine and feminine, helping popularize suits for women. More recently, the brand has become famous for these diamond encrusted boots from a previous runway show.

5) Staud is new brand, founded in 2015 in Los Angeles, California by Sarah Staudinger and George Augusto. I wanted to mention a newer brand because it's important to recognize new talent, and talent they have. Fun Fact: even though the brand in young, it has cult following of fashion girls like Alexa Chung and Dakota Johnson.
